How Long Does it Take to Manifest Something?

In this article, I’m going to discuss a question that is often asked when it comes to manifesting, and that is how long it will take to manifest something. I’ll also talk about some hiccups I’ve experienced as far as time goes when manifesting, to hopefully help others speed their manifestations up. It’s perfectly normal to want to know when something is going to show up in the 3D, especially after working on all of the significant changes that often come with choosing to manifest something (self-concept, limiting beliefs, etc.).

I want to begin by discussing the concept of ‘time’. We have been taught to believe that there is a past, a present, and a future, and that time here is linear and basically continues running forward into infinity. We live our lives based on this perception of time by setting schedules for ourselves, by breaking up time into months, weeks, days, hours, and minutes. Due to this conditioning, many of us aren’t actually staying in the present moment, because our thoughts are preoccupied with something that happened in the past or with something that is going to happen in the future. What really helped me on my manifestation journey was the understanding that time is actually an illusion, and the only moment that actually exists is the present moment. Rather than time being linear, what we are really doing throughout the day is moving in and out of
different states of consciousness. These states of consciousness are realities in and of themselves. The feeling of wondering where your manifestation is and when it is going to show up is its own state of consciousness.

When we are fixating on how long something is going to take, how long it has been, and when it is going to happen, we are no longer in the present moment, and this creates a sense of urgency that can actually delay our manifestations, because it is still a state of lack and not having. This is something that I struggled with for a while, and I believe if I had been introduced to this concept earlier, it would’ve sped my manifestations up. I wasn’t aware that, in the back of my mind, I was thinking about the time that had gone by, how long I had spent doing techniques, and when it was going to happen, and so I continued to experience more of this. Because the subconscious mind is literal and takes what you impress on it, I just got more and more of the experience of wondering where my manifestations were and when they would come, instead of redirecting my attention back to the present moment and living in the end in my imagination. Neville Goddard spoke about this in his lectures, saying it is not about how long you have spent manifesting or doing techniques, but about the frequency with which you occupy the desired state, and how natural it feels, that determines when you will successfully manifest.

Another common pitfall when it comes to manifesting and time is the belief that if we don’t get what we are manifesting soon, it is not going to happen at all. However, we live in a multiverse, where everything exists in consciousness, which means there are an infinite number of possibilities we can choose from that already exist as states that are waiting to be occupied. So your manifestation isn’t going anywhere, because it is already finished. You just need to occupy this state long enough until it becomes your dominant state. We do this by becoming the version of us who already has what we desire. This also means that you really cannot fail at manifesting unless you declare it so. If you have a bad day or react to the 3D, you don’t need to start over and you didn’t fail. You need to persist in the state of the wish fulfilled until it out pictures in your 3D reality.

How to overcome the hurdle of “time”

-Use self-observation throughout your day and keep a strong mental diet.  Become aware of where you are dwelling in consciousness. Are you worried about how long things are going to take? Are you thinking about how long it has been, and when it is going to come? As soon as you notice this, ground yourself back into the present moment and direct yourself back to the feeling of already having what you want.

- Continue to work on your self-concept and the beliefs and assumptions you have about yourself and your desires. Manifesting almost always requires a change in our self-concept. For some, this could involve a fair amount of work, which may go beyond choosing a technique and addressing limiting beliefs. Deeper work, such as somatic work, psychotherapy, etc. may be needed, especially for those who have experienced trauma at any point during their lives.

-Continue to build faith and trust in yourself as a powerful creator. You can do this by manifesting things that don’t carry as much depth and weight as something “bigger” that you really want. Manifesting smaller things really helped build my faith in the law of assumption. I made a list of items I don’t usually see regularly (example: a hot pink car, a purple car, a rainbow turtle, etc.). Before falling asleep at night, I would visualize each of these items for 3 nights in a row, and then I’d drop it. I saw each of these items within a relatively short period of time, which gave me more faith in my ability to manifest! One piece of advice I do want to give if you try this: after visualizing, it’s important to “drop it” and not constantly think about when you’re going to see these items. This will prevent them from showing up in the 3D because the state of wondering when you’re going to see something is a state of lack. I noticed I would see each of these things faster when I stopped thinking about them and wondering when I would see them (which further reinforces the concepts I mentioned above).
