6 Hidden Energetic Issues That May Be Affecting Your Manifestations

Have you ever felt like you're doing everything you're supposed to do to manifest something, but you're still not getting the results you want?

Maybe you've tried affirmations, visualization, vision boards, or other popular manifestation techniques. You understand the importance of your self-concept and know that your thoughts and beliefs influence your experiences. And yet, something still feels like it's getting in the way.

What if the issue isn't simply about what you're thinking or believing consciously?

In my work with manifestation, I explore the possibility that there are deeper energetic patterns influencing our ability to create what we desire. Some of these patterns may be connected to past-life experiences, unresolved trauma, ancestral influences, or beliefs we've absorbed from other people and the world around us.

The underlying patterns that can influence our experiences are referred to as karmic complexes. These are the deeper issues that may need to be addressed before we can fully move forward.

Sometimes, however, addressing the underlying pattern is only part of the process. There may also be other energetic issues that need attention. These energetic issues are referred to as downstream auric consequences of a karmic complex. They are complications of karmic complexes that do not resolve on their own after healing a karmic complex, and need to be addressed after the karmic complex is healed.

In this article, I will explore six of these issues and how they may relate to conscious creation.

1. Soul Loss: When You No Longer Feel Like Yourself

Sometimes we experience something that changes us in such a significant way that we don’t feel the same afterwards, such as a painful breakup, a betrayal, losing someone you loved, an abusive relationship, or another event that completely altered your sense of safety in the world.

Traumatic experiences can affect us in ways that we aren’t always consciously aware of. Sometimes, we find ourselves struggling to move forward long after the event itself has passed.

In shamanism, this concept is known as soul loss, sometimes called soul fragmentation.

The idea is that when we experience something overwhelming, a part of our essence can become disconnected from us. Rather than being able to fully process what happened, a part of us splits off and remains stuck in the events that transpired.

When this happens, we can lose access to some of the positive qualities, resources, and beliefs we once held.

You might struggle to trust others, feel disconnected from life, or find yourself unable to move beyond something that happened years ago.

How might this affect manifestation?

When we're trying to create something new, we're not necessarily starting from the same place we were before our difficult experiences.

If an experience has affected our sense of worth, safety, or trust, those changes may influence what we believe is possible for us today.

For example, you might consciously desire a loving relationship while finding it difficult to trust that love can be safe. Or you might want to build a business but struggle to put yourself out there after experiencing rejection.

The desire is there, but other parts of you may still be responding to what happened in the past.

In shamanism, soul retrieval is one approach used to work with this kind of disconnection. The intention is to restore a sense of wholeness and reconnect with the resources that were lost or disrupted, and get your energy back.

Of course, trauma can affect people in many different ways; experiences such as anxiety, numbness, or difficulty moving forward do not automatically indicate soul loss. These experiences can also benefit from appropriate psychological or therapeutic support.

2. Ordinary Earthbound Spirits: When Your Energy Feels Drained

Another possible downstream consequence of a karmic complex is that of earthbound spirits.

Earthbound spirits are understood as the emotional and mental bodies of people who have died but have not fully transitioned to the afterlife. They are sometimes referred to as ghosts.

These spirits may remain attached to earthly experiences because of unresolved fear, guilt, grief, addiction, or attachment to loved ones.

Some spiritual practitioners believe that these attachments can occur around people whose emotional or energetic states resonate with the spirit's unresolved experiences.

For example, someone who is carrying a great deal of fear may be more likely to encounter an energy associated with fear.

When an earthbound spirit shows up as a downstream consequence of a karmic complex, it is because the energy the earthbound spirit is bringing resonates with the energies of the karmic complex.

There are three main ways ordinary earthbound spirit attachments are understood to affect a person's energy field.

First, they may contribute to a feeling of energetic depletion. These attachments can drain a person's available energy, particularly when multiple attachments are believed to be present.

Second, they may amplify existing emotions. If someone is already carrying anger, sadness, or fear, the presence of an earthbound spirit is thought to echo those emotions, making them feel more intense.

Third, they may complicate intuitive discernment. These attachments can make it more difficult to distinguish between helpful spiritual guidance and other influences.

How does this relate to manifestation?

When you're working toward a desire, your emotional state, energy, and ability to make decisions all play a role.

If you're feeling persistently depleted or emotionally overwhelmed, it can be harder to take the actions that support your goals.

Earthbound spirits are easy to clear and I include a process for this if this shows up for someone in an Evolutionary Manifesting reading.

3. Enmeshed Earthbound Spirits

Enmeshed earthbound spirits are different from ordinary earthbound spirits.

An ordinary earthbound spirit attachment is believed to exist on the outside of a person's energy field. An enmeshed attachment, on the other hand, is believed to occupy a portion of the person's life force energy.

The attachment often occurs due to a person forming an energetic agreement with a spirit, often without consciously understanding the implications.

Interestingly, these agreements are not necessarily believed to begin with harmful intentions.

The spirit may appear to offer help with a particular area of life, especially one in which the person feels vulnerable.

For example, imagine someone who has experienced a painful relationship breakup and believes that expressing their feelings contributed to the end of the relationship.

An enmeshed spirit with resonant wounding might offer to help them avoid experiencing that pain again by discouraging self-expression.

Initially, the arrangement might seem protective. If you don't speak up, perhaps you won't risk rejection or conflict.

But over time, that protective strategy may become limiting.

The person might find it difficult to communicate their needs, express their authentic self, or establish healthy boundaries in future relationships.

Another example might involve withdrawing from others to avoid drawing unwanted attention after experiencing abuse. While withdrawal may once have felt protective, it can become an obstacle to connection and personal growth.

The deeper pattern here is that something intended to help us avoid pain can eventually prevent us from experiencing what we want.

*Enmeshed earthbound spirit attachments require a more involved process to address. I do offer a separate service for this, but if this issue comes up during an Evolutionary Manifesting Reading, it's important that we address things in the right order. There may be underlying patterns or karmic complexes that need attention first, so rather than immediately moving into a clearing, we want to understand the bigger picture and determine the most appropriate next step for you.

4. Ancestral Influences

Some patterns that don’t serve us have repeated across generations, such as the women in your family struggling with relationships, money, self-worth, or feeling safe enough to express their needs (just an example).

Some of these patterns can be understood through family dynamics, learned behaviors, and the effects of intergenerational trauma. We can absorb beliefs and coping strategies from the people who raise us, often without realizing it.

In Evolutionary Manifesting, there is also the concept of ancestral influences.

These are understood as unresolved experiences, fears, or emotional patterns associated with ancestors that may continue to affect their descendants.

Ancestral influences are different from spirit attachments. An attachment involves the idea of an earthbound spirit connected to an individual, whereas an ancestral influence refers to an unresolved pattern believed to affect the family line without necessarily involving an attached spirit (although this may be the case as well).

What we have learned about life, love, money, and our own worth may be a repeating ancestral influence that goes back several generations and it usually stems from a specific trauma that an ancestor experienced.

Examples of this include the belief that love requires sacrifice, that money is difficult to come by, that success comes at a cost, or that putting yourself first is selfish.

These beliefs can influence the choices we make and can hinder the conscious creation process.

If you want to create a different experience in your life, it can be helpful to identify which beliefs genuinely belong to you and which ones you inherited through your upbringing and environment.

The good news is, it is resolvable and you do not have to repeat every pattern that came before you.

Ancestral influences also require a more involved process to address. I offer a separate Ancestral Reading and Healing for those who discover ancestral influences during their Evolutionary Manifesting Reading. However, as with other energetic issues, it's important to address things in the right order. If an ancestral influence comes up in your reading, we'll first look at the bigger picture and identify what may need to be addressed first.

5. Unwanted Influencing Energy

Have you ever known exactly what you wanted to do, such as wanting to change careers, start a business, leave a relationship, spend your money differently, or simply live in a way that doesn't fit other people's expectations, only to find yourself second-guessing your decisions out of fear of what someone else may think?

You might hear the voices of your parents, friends, partner, or society telling you what you should do, how you should behave, or what a successful life is supposed to look like.

This may be due to unwanted influencing energy.

The term refers to the energetic component of controlling, nagging, or coercive behavior: the pressure that comes from someone else's agenda for how you should live.

The idea is not that every opinion someone expresses has an energetic effect on you, however the influence is thought to be more significant when there is repeated unsolicited advice or pressure, and when a person is particularly susceptible to it.

For example, someone who struggles with self-esteem or seeks approval from others may find it especially difficult to make decisions that might disappoint the people around them.

Even when she knows, logically, that she's an adult who is entitled to make her own choices, she may still feel compelled to please others.

This can make it difficult to recognize her own needs and desires.

You may end up pursuing someone else's version of success, making decisions out of guilt, or abandoning your goals because you fear disapproval.

If nobody else had an opinion about your choices, what would you want for your life?

Unwanted influencing energy is another downstream auric issue that could come up in an Evolutionary Manifesting reading. It is easy to clear, but it must be cleared in the right order.  At the same time, setting boundaries, developing self-trust, and addressing the underlying fear of disapproval can help you make choices that feel more authentic.

6. Negative Thought Forms

The final energetic  issue I want to explore is what is referred to as “negative thought forms”.

You may already be familiar with the idea that our thoughts influence our experiences. Sometimes,  a thought can become so repetitive that it starts to feel like the truth of what we are experiencing.

Examples of this are:

  • "I'm not good enough."

  • “Nothing is ever easy”.

  • "I'll never find the right person."

  • "I'm too old to start over."

  • "Money is always a struggle."

  • "I always end up back where I started."

These thought forms may be created through our own repeated thinking, absorbed from other people, or adopted from the collective consciousness.

For example, consider the belief that women become less desirable as they get older.

This message appears in various forms throughout popular culture and the media. A woman who already feels insecure about her age or worth may absorb this message and begin treating it as a fact about her own future.

She may want a loving relationship while simultaneously believing that her opportunity to find one has passed.

The thought itself becomes a source of internal conflict.

Negative thought forms are very easy to clear and I include a process for this if it comes up as a downstream auric issue in an Evolutionary manifesting reading.

Why Addressing these Auric Issues Matters

Sometimes, what appears to be a manifestation problem is connected to something deeper than the desire itself.

It may be that you have already done a great deal of inner work and still feel as though something isn't shifting.

This is why I believe it's important to look beyond surface-level manifestation techniques.

Affirmations, visualization, and consciously choosing your assumptions can be valuable tools, however, a more in-depth approach to manifestation may be needed for some.

With Evolutionary Manifesting, these six issues are considered possible downstream consequences of karmic complexes. The idea is that addressing the underlying pattern may be an important first step, with additional work sometimes needed to address the related issues.

What is also important to understand is the order in which these downstream auric issues are addressed. It’s important to address the karmic complex first, and then address any other downstream auric issues that may have come up in the reading (such as ancestral influence or negative thought forms) afterwards (and not before).

For example, if you have a negative thought form that stems from a karmic complex, clearing the  thought form before healing the karmic complex will almost certainly result in the thought form being replaced by another one that has resonant energy, until the root of the issue (the karmic complex) is addressed.

To give an example: in my evolutionary manifesting reading, one of the downstream auric issues that came up for me was a negative thought form. The essence of this thought form was victimization, and for as long as I could remember, I always felt like nothing was easy and I always got the short end of the stick. I addressed the karmic complex first through past life regression, and then I cleared the negative thought form.

How Do You Know What's Getting in the Way of Your Manifestations?

If you've been trying to manifest something for a long time without seeing the results you want, it may be worth exploring the deeper patterns that could be influencing your experience.

Rather than immediately assuming you're thinking the wrong thoughts or failing to maintain the right vibration, consider what else might be happening.

Are you carrying beliefs about yourself that contradict what you consciously desire? Are you repeating patterns that have carried on generation after generation in your family? Are you still affected by experiences that changed the way you see yourself or the world? Are you trying to please other people at the expense of your own desires?

In my Evolutionary Manifesting readings, I explore the deeper patterns that may be influencing a person's ability to consciously create their desired experiences. The intention is to bring greater clarity to what's happening beneath the surface and offer a more individualized roadmap for moving forward.

Because I don't believe manifestation should be about endlessly trying harder, forcing yourself to stay positive, or blaming yourself when something doesn't happen.

I believe it's about understanding yourself more deeply, recognizing what's getting in the way, and finding the approaches that genuinely support your evolution.

You don't have to keep repeating the same techniques and hoping something will eventually change.

Sometimes, the most useful next step is to understand what you've been working against.
